SunTrust Atlantic Energies Limited

Leading New Frontiers in Africa’s Energy Exploration and Production

Excellence | Integrity | Respect | Openness | Value Creation

Creating value for stakeholders as we pursue our core business of energy exploration and production in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

About Us

Incorporated in 2001, SunTrust Atlantic Energies Limited (“SunTrust Atlantic”), formerly SunTrust Oil, is an energy exploration and production company with a focus on West Africa and the Gulf of Guinea as its core business areas.

SunTrust Atlantic has actively participated in the Nigerian upstream industry since 2003 upon the award by the Nigerian Government of a 30% interest in the Umusadege field located in OML 56 (onshore Delta State) (“Umusadege Field”) during the first marginal field license bid round.

Our Operations

Umusadege Field

A multi-well drilling campaign is ongoing on the Umusadege Field towards increasing our oil production.

The crude oil from the Umusadege field is strategically exported via two terminals: the Shell-operated Forcados terminal (through the Umugini Pipeline) and the NAOC-operated Brass terminal.

The Umugini Pipeline, commissioned in 2014, is a 51.4km x 12” pipeline with an evacuation capacity of 100,000bopd and is co-owned by SunTrust Atlantic.

Egbolom Field

Full field development activities have commenced in earnest with the re-entry operations of the Egbolom-2 well completed. First oil from the Egbolom field was achieved in April 2024. Based on its appreciable accredited reserves base, the Egbolom field is set to become a significant contributor to Nigeria’s indigenous production target.

Central Processing Facility (“CPF”)

In 2014, SunTrust Atlantic and its JV partner designed, built and commissioned a state-of-the-art CPF, as first of its kind for a marginal field operation in Nigeria and Africa.

Tank-Farm

To mitigate against downtimes and production losses from pipeline outages, the Joint Venture designed and built a 110,000 bbls crude-oil tank farm located in the Umusadege Field.

Gas Utilisation

A portion of the total gas production is currently used to generate power for the Umusadege Field operations. However, plans are ongoing to optimize gas utilization through the building of a gas processing plant. We expect to commission the gas plant in Q1 2025.

Midsun Refinery

SunTrust and its JV partner have commenced plans to build a modular refinery close to the Umusadege Field facility. The Midsun Refinery, when completed, will receive crude oil supply from the Umusdage Field and neighboring marginal field operators.

Our Goals

In meeting with the purpose and aspiration of SunTrust Atlantic, we are focused on:

  1. Acquiring new energy assets to increase our net worth.
  2. Improving the efficiency of our operations in the oil and gas industry.
  3. Building a team of well trained and highly motivated professionals.

To become the leading energy exploration and production company with operations across Africa and beyond.

Our Purpose
