Okenwa Kalu Emekwo is a highly experienced operations manager in the Nigerian energy industry, with over 20 years of expertise spanning geosciences, production operations, health, safety and environment (HSE), business development, project management, and crude oil export management.
Since joining SunTrust Atlantic Energies Limited in 2008, Okenwa has played a key role in driving the company’s growth and operational excellence. In his current role as Operations, Commercial, and HSE Manager, he oversees SunTrust’s crude oil export processes and ensures seamless, efficient performance across multiple business functions.
Okenwa is an integral member of the Umusadege PML 22 Joint Venture Technical Team, actively contributing to the development and operations of the Umusadege Field. He also provides oversight and facilitates interface coordination in the Joint Venture’s activities. Additionally, he is a member of the Operating Committee of Umugini Pipeline Infrastructure Limited, the operator of a 52km crude oil pipeline connecting Kwale to Eriemu.
He holds a B.Tech in Geophysics from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, a Master of Science in International Management (Oil and Gas Operations) from the University of Liverpool, UK, and an MBA in Strategic Business Leadership from Osiri University, Lincoln, Nebraska, USA.
Okenwa is a committed professional and an active member of several prestigious industry associations, including the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS), the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), and the International Geothermal Association (IGA).
